Why Contractors Come to Gulfroot

Eugenia foetida is a Florida native that produces one of the finest-textured, densest hedge forms of any native species. The small, rounded leaves and tight branching create a hedge wall that looks almost manicured without regular trimming. For coastal SWFL estate projects where the landscape plan requires native species but the client wants a refined, formal hedge character, Spanish Stopper is the answer. Almost no SWFL contractor or nursery has web content targeting this species at trade scale.

SWFL Field Performance

Zone 10–11. Full sun to part shade. Drought tolerant once established. Very high salt tolerance — native to South Florida coastal hammocks and Keys. Evergreen. Grows to 8–15ft untrimmed; maintains readily as a 3–6ft formal hedge. Small white flowers in spring, black berries in fall. One of the best native options for formal coastal hedging in Collier, Monroe, and southern Lee counties.

Direct from Homestead — not through a distributor.
